Moonlighting - By Karen Ellyard

October 2011

During our life, most of us at one time or another have been hurt by the words or actions of others. The problem is if we hold onto the emotions of anger, bitterness, pain or sometimes even hatred can have a devastating effect on our own lives, both on our health and the circumstances we attract to ourselves. Every thought we have turns to energy and fills our aura thus affecting what and who comes into our life.

I find that sometimes people get caught up in their need to feel they are right, but at what cost does this thinking take?

Forgiveness is such an important part of our lives and our thinking if we want to move forward on our journey. Forgiveness brings you peace, joy, gratitude and abundance.

It means to let go of the negative thoughts regarding a situation or person that is affecting you. It does not mean you accept their behaviour you just decide to truly separate yourself from it because any pain or bitterness keeps you connected to it.

Forgiveness brings you back into the present instead of being stuck in the past.

Forgiveness is not about excusing responsibility but truly taking responsibility for our own lives.
Often the most important person we need to forgive is ourselves. Most of us judge ourselves too harshly. We can’t change our past but we can forgive ourselves for any mistakes or attitudes and move past them.
I encourage all of us not to dwell on the past but fall in love with your present. Forgiveness is a gift we give to ourselves not anyone else. It will enhance your life in leaps and bounds when practiced. Forgiveness is good for your health, literally, as it is a major stress reducer. Forgiveness is good for your abundance as it brings us to the present where joy, peace and gratitude are. Forgiveness is good for our relationships as it teaches us to respect ourselves.
I am adding an exercise in Take Five which, if done for thirty days will make a huge difference in your life. I encourage you do this, not because anyone deserves it, but because you simply have it to give. Step back from any negative thoughts about them. Images of throttling them won’t help :)

I wish you a life filled with great love, faith and blessed forgiveness.

Love & cheers

Karen

take five

Sit, close eyes, breathe deeply and relax.

Think of someone that you are having a problem with that causes fear, pain, bitterness, hatred etc. Imagine them clearly standing a short distance from you.

Imagine a white light coming down into the top of your head and filling your body. Fill the light with love and blessings. See the light coming out from the palms of your hands and send it to the person. Surround them with it and say “I send you love, light and blessings”
